What Is Shoe Drop

  • Weeks 5–8: Three times per week, can progress to tempo runs
  • After week 9: Can fully integrate into daily training

During this period, if you experience calf tightness that does not resolve within 48 hours, a stabbing pain in the heel, or severe pain on the first step in the morning, immediately return to your original drop.

Practical Recommendations

The golden shoe rotation for runners:

  • 1 pair of 10–12mm high-stack shoes (LSD, recovery runs)
  • 1 pair of 6–8mm medium shoes (daily training)
  • 1 pair of 4mm or less lightweight shoes (tempo runs, races)

Rotating shoes prevents over-fatigue of a single muscle group and can extend the lifespan of each pair by about 30%.
