Why Tubeless Has Become Mainstream
Tubeless tires eliminate the friction between the inner tube and the outer tire, giving lower rolling resistance. The trade-off is a more labor-intensive setup, the need to periodically top up sealant, and still needing to stuff in an inner tube for emergency repair on a severe puncture.

“How much pressure to run” isn’t a fixed number — it’s dynamically determined by four variables. Understanding the direction matters more than memorizing numbers:

- Advanced performance and comfort: tubeless, with regular sealant checks (it dries out and loses effectiveness)
- Coastal, salt-exposed routes: clean the tread and check for cuts after every ride
Many riders spend big money upgrading their wheelset, yet still ride on old tires pumped rock-hard. In fact, the cheapest, most noticeable upgrade is a good new tire set to the right pressure — the best value for money, and the thing fewest people actually do.
