  3. Buying whey protein powder and thinking the problem is solved: Protein powder is a supplement tool and cannot replace the other nutrients found in whole foods.

  1. Use a phone app to track your diet for 3 days and calculate your actual daily protein intake. Most runners are surprised to find their intake falls far short of their needs.
  2. Add one protein source to every meal: Add an egg at breakfast, a serving of meat at lunch, and tofu at dinner to easily hit your target.
  3. Prepare supplies in advance for high-intensity training days: Tea eggs, soy milk, and milk that can be consumed immediately after a long run.
