  • The most direct method for raising lactate threshold

Cruise Intervals:

  • Compared to a continuous tempo run, allows greater total volume with less psychological strain

Long Slow Distance:

  • Accumulate mileage at an intensity below lactate threshold pace

  3. Adjust for weather: in high heat or humidity, slow your lactate threshold pace by 5–15 seconds per kilometer.
  4. Combine with heart rate monitoring: confirm that your heart rate stays steady within 85–92% of max during tempo runs.
