Mistake 1: Jumping into VO2max during the base phase

Mistake 2: Doing Sweet Spot all year round
Although SST is efficient, if you never progress to higher intensities throughout the year, your VO2max ceiling cannot be raised. You need to incorporate Over-Unders and VO2max intervals in the spring.

Mistake 3: Ignoring recovery weeks
Every 3–4 weeks, you should schedule a reduced-volume recovery week (training volume reduced by 30–40%) to allow the body to supercompensate. Skipping recovery weeks is one of the main causes of long-term FTP stagnation.
