  • Insufficient rest: Rest periods that are too short cause cumulative fatigue, severely degrading the quality of later reps
  • Excessive frequency: Two interval sessions per week plus a tempo run pushes high-intensity volume above 40%, increasing injury risk
  • Skipping the warm-up: Before intervals, you need at least 2 km of easy running + dynamic stretching + 4–6 × 80m accelerations to protect muscles from strain
