DIY Application Tools

Step-by-Step Application Guide

Step 1: Clean the Frame

  1. Rinse the frame with water to remove surface dust and grit

  4. Important: Any dust or grit will cause bubbles or bumps under the film

Step 2: Cut the Film

  5. Heat the edges with a heat gun (around 60-70°C) to soften the PPF so it conforms to the curved surface
  6. Trim off the excess with a utility knife along the edge of the frame

  1. Heat all edges with the heat gun and press down firmly to ensure a good bond

Tip 1: Conforming to Curved Surfaces
Carbon frames have many complex curves, and PPF can easily wrinkle on curved surfaces. Solutions:

  • Smooth out wrinkles by rubbing them with your fingers
  • For areas that truly won’t conform, consider applying separate pieces

Tip 2: Dealing with Bubbles

  • For larger bubbles, prick them with a pin and push the air out with the squeegee
  • Prevention beats treatment: the cleaner your work environment and the more even your spray, the fewer bubbles you’ll get

Tip 3: Matte Frames
