Asahidake Onsen via Route 1160

The Asahidake Onsen climb starts upstream of Lake Chubetsu at roughly 450 metres and follows Hokkaido Route 1160 through the forests of Daisetsuzan National Park to the hot-spring village and ropeway base near 1,100 metres. Verified by the API and a 3,337-point high-resolution stream, the canonical Strava segment is 13.38 kilometres; the finished route is 13.39 kilometres with approximately 652 metres of climbing and 6 metres of descent, with no elevation-datum contamination. Three genuine Strava sections cover about 63 percent and five terrain fills complete the road, including the missing opening from kilometre 0 to 0.54, with zero-distance seams. This is the final concentrated ascent of longer rides from Asahikawa, with deep forest, scarce supplies and brown bears. Check Higashikawa, Kamikawa road and visitor-centre notices, and cancel for bear alerts, closure, snow, fog, heavy rain or wind.
