A short 1.12 km paved public-road climb from the Matsuda side of Ashikaga to Inoko Tunnel, gaining about 77 m. This is the city-promoted Matsuda approach, distinct from the Omata side. Use lights before the tunnel, watch blind wooded bends and local traffic, and cancel after heavy rain, in snow or ice, during closures or bear alerts.
