Mount Kano – Akimoto Side
A compact but severe 3.43 km climb gaining about 302 m on Chiba Prefectural Route 93 from Akimoto toward Mount Kano. ## Overview Mount Kano is a recognised climbing ground for Chiba cyclists, and the Akimoto side is its most direct and steep approach. The route stays on the paved public Prefectural Route 93 and contains no trail or private-road section. ## Climb analysis The rebuilt route uses two real Strava subsegments: 3.43 km and about 302 m of ascent, equivalent to roughly 8.8%. It steepens almost immediately and offers little sustained recovery. Strava's summary incorrectly reports zero ascent, so the page uses the reconstructed high-resolution figure. ## Riding tips - Bring gearing near 1:1 and start conservatively. - Fill bottles before the Akimoto start. - Expect wet leaves, branches and gravel in shade. - Keep left and descend slowly through blind bends. - Do not plan an exit through the currently closed Odomi section of National Route 410. The climb itself is public Prefectural Route 93 and is not listed in Chiba's 6 July 2026 closure notice. Nearby National Route 410 at Odomi remains fully closed after slope failure; approach and return via Akimoto/Route 93 and recheck official notices. Dry days in March–May and October–December; cancel for heat, heavy rain, strong wind, wet leaves or restrictions.
