Smangus Bridge to Smangus Village

This remote mountain climb begins at Smangus Bridge over the Taigang valley and follows the only industrial road serving the Atayal village of Smangus to the settlement entrance. The verified canonical Strava mother segment, ID 15801003, is 6.03 kilometres long with 442.2 metres of gain and a 6.5-percent average; its high-resolution stream contains 629 points. Published data for the same segment indicate brief ramps above twenty percent, making the effort much harder than the average suggests. Six nearby candidates were explored, but Zhenxibao branches, reversed efforts and off-line geometry were rejected. The only valid candidate covered almost the entire mother line, so the complete canonical route was retained without overlap or a missing tail. This is a narrow, blind-bend mountain road exposed to vehicles, loose gravel and rockfall, with no dependable resupply on the climb. Carry water, food, an offline map and low gearing from Xiuluan or Taigang, verify current timed traffic controls and weather with the village before departure, and respect all Atayal community rules and temporary closures.
