There are countless dietary approaches, and whether one works for you depends on whether you can sustain it long-term, whether you’re getting enough protein, and whether your training performance is being dragged down. For endurance athletes with high training volume, overly restricting carbohydrates often compromises high-intensity sessions and recovery. There’s no single right answer, but the principles remain unchanged: a modest deficit, adequate protein, preserving muscle, and sustainability. If you have a chronic condition or are on medication, be sure to consult your physician and nutritionist before adopting any extreme dietary approach.
Q5: What if my weight has been stuck for weeks?
First, check whether you’re only looking at single-day numbers—switch to a 7-day moving average instead. Only if the moving average truly hasn’t budged for two to three consecutive weeks should you make small adjustments: reduce daily intake by a modest 100–150 kcal, or increase daily activity (walk more, commute by bike), rather than panicking and slashing calories. Sometimes a “plateau” is just your body adjusting water and glycogen stores—patience is more useful than drastic measures.
