Starting Point: Daan Forest Park

Daan Forest Park is one of the largest parks in central Taipei, spanning over 26 hectares, with a complete loop path about 2.5 kilometers long. The flat terrain and ample shade make it the top choice for beginner runners and everyday joggers alike.

Between 6 and 8 a.m. is the busiest time — you’ll spot every type of runner here: marathon trainees in light singlets, parents pushing strollers, and office workers with earbuds in. The park has timing light poles along the path, making pace training easy.

Tip: One loop around the park’s oval main path is about 1.2 km, making it a handy unit for estimating your mileage.

Midsection: Ren’ai Road and the Tree-Lined Boulevard

Leaving Daan Park, head east along Ren’ai Road, a lushly shaded stretch where the street trees turn the whole avenue into a green tunnel. Ren’ai Road is one of Taipei’s most beautiful tree-lined boulevards, with light traffic in the morning — ideal for jogging.

From there, turn onto Jianguo South Road, where you can continue along the jogging path beneath the Jianguo Elevated Road. This stretch is sheltered overhead, so you can keep running even in the rain — a secret refuge for rainy-day runners.

Finish: The Keelung River Riverside Parks

After crossing through central Taipei, you’ll arrive at the riverside parks along the Keelung River. Taipei’s riverside bikeways and jogging paths form one of Taiwan’s most complete waterfront sports networks, stretching from Muzha and Xindian along the Keelung River all the way to Neihu and Xizhi, spanning over 100 kilometers in total.

The riverside scenery changes with the seasons:

  • Spring: Fields of canola flowers and lavender bloom, with pleasant temperatures
  • Summer: Morning mist drifts across the river, and a light breeze brings cool relief
  • Autumn: Silver grass sways in the wind under a clear blue sky
  • Winter: Migratory birds gather, bringing a peaceful, tranquil atmosphere

Supplies and Rest Stops

  • Convenience stores near Daan Forest Park (along Heping E. Rd)
  • Water stations along the riverside parks (spaced roughly every 1–2 km)
  • Dajia Riverside Park Visitor Center (restrooms and supplies available)

Who This Route Suits

  • Beginner runners: Start with just the Daan Park loop (2–3 laps), then extend once you’re comfortable
  • Intermediate runners: Combine Daan Park with the riverside route for a full 12–15 km run
  • Marathon trainees: Use the riverside stretch for Long Slow Distance (LSD) training

Getting There

Take the MRT to Daan Forest Park Station (Bannan Line) to reach the starting point — no car needed, making it the most eco-friendly and convenient option. To extend into the riverside route, you can take the MRT back from the finish point, or plan a one-way run.

Taipei’s urban jogging culture is thriving. Whether this is your first time lacing up running shoes or you’re gearing up for your next marathon, this route is well worth experiencing firsthand. Lace up and go!
