- Schedule an overreaching week every 4–6 weeks, not more frequently
- Confirm the athlete’s health status before the overreaching week: postpone if there is a cold, muscle soreness, or mental burnout
- Record RPE and morning resting heart rate throughout: if heart rate remains abnormally elevated, shorten the schedule immediately
- Arrange a 2-week recovery period after the overreaching week (rather than 1 week) to ensure full supercompensation
- Evaluate effectiveness with time trials: conduct them after the recovery week ends to objectively track breakthrough progress
