  3. Avoid drastic dietary changes: There is no need to suddenly increase carbohydrate intake during the taper; maintain a normal diet. In the 2 days before competition, you may moderately increase starchy foods to replenish glycogen.
  4. Keep the day-before-competition training volume minimal: Swim no more than 800 meters in the water, focusing on feeling the water—this is absolutely not an opportunity for extra practice.
