Daily Maintenance Checklist

Battery Management

SRAM AXS:

• Before every ride, press the AXS button on the derailleur to check the LED
  • Green light = sufficient charge
  • Red light = low battery
  • Flashing red light = almost dead
• Replace the handlebar CR2032 coin cell battery every 1-2 years
• Note: Do not buy batteries with a bitter coating meant to deter children from swallowing them—the coating can interfere with electrical contact

Shimano Di2:

• Press and hold any shift button for more than 0.5 seconds to check battery level (via LED or E-Tube App)
• It is recommended to charge once a month; do not wait until the battery is completely drained

Cleaning

SRAM AXS (IP69K water-resistant):

1. Remove the derailleur battery
2. Install the red battery protective cover
3. Clean with soapy water and a soft brush
4. Rinse, dry, then reinstall the battery

Shimano Di2 (IP67 water-resistant):

• Can be washed with water but avoid high-pressure water jets
• Pay special attention to waterproofing at the wire connection terminals—apply a little silicone grease to the terminals
• Keep the Junction Box dry and clean

Firmware Updates

Both systems release firmware updates periodically:

• AXS: Update via the AXS App on your phone + Bluetooth
• Di2: Update via the E-Tube Project App or a computer

Firmware updates may include improvements to shifting logic or bug fixes, so it is recommended to check regularly.

Common Problems and Solutions

Limit Screw Adjustment on Electronic Shifting

Even with electronic shifting, the adjustment method for the H limit and L limit screws is exactly the same as with mechanical shifting. The motor simply replaces the pulling force of the cable, but the physical limits are still controlled by the screws.

Long-Term Storage Notes

• SRAM AXS: Remove the batteries when not riding for an extended period to avoid over-discharge
• Shimano Di2: The central battery will slowly discharge when idle; it is recommended to charge once a month
• Both systems automatically enter sleep mode after 30 seconds of inactivity

When Should You Take It to a Bike Shop?

• Any breakage or damage to the wires (Di2)
• Unusual motor noise or abnormal heat
• Pairing issues that keep recurring
• Damage to the derailleur body itself

Electronic shifting systems are highly precise, and it is not recommended to disassemble the motor or circuit board yourself. You can handle daily maintenance on your own, but leave deep-level problems to the professionals.
