Brand Story

Interestingly, the numbers in the Hadron 485 and 625 names do not represent rim depth, but rather the combination of front and rear rim depths. For example, 485 = 48mm front + 54mm rear (5 is the rear wheel marker), 625 = 62mm front + 54mm rear.

Swiss Side’s aero testing methodology differs from most wheelset brands:

Swiss Side’s rim shape design incorporates F1 aero concepts:

  • Different front and rear rim depths: Deeper front wheel to maximize aero effect, shallower rear wheel to reduce turbulence in the rear triangle area of the frame. This is the exact opposite of ENVE SES’s shallow-front/deep-rear approach, reflecting a different aero philosophy
  • Progressive rim profile: The curvature of the rim surface changes progressively from the leading edge to the trailing edge, guiding airflow smoothly across

The Hadron Ultimate uses DT Swiss 180 hubs, and the Hadron Classic uses DT Swiss 240 hubs—both are benchmark-level hubs in the industry. Swiss Side chose not to manufacture their own hubs but instead pair with the best off-the-shelf solutions, which is a smart allocation of resources.
