Climbing north from Toucheng along Highway 9 (Beiyi Highway) toward the New Taipei-Yilan county border, covering approximately 13.4 km with over 500 m of elevation gain. The reward for this ascent is the breathtaking view overlooking the Lan Yang Plain and Guishan Island—the most stunning vista on the Yilan side of the Beiyi route.

Route Overview

北宜公路（台 9 線）是雪隧通車前台北宜蘭的唯一公路動脈，如今車流轉移，反而成了車友與重機的經典山路。本路線從頭城側起登，爬向縣界碑，全程約 13.4 公里、爬升約 512 公尺，平均坡度約 3.8%。

宜蘭側的北宜坡度溫和但綿長，一路以大彎盤上雪山山脈尾稜，爬升過程中蘭陽平原的稻田棋盤與海上的龜山島不斷在彎道間出現——這是全台灣最有辨識度的爬坡風景之一。縣界碑是標準折返點，續行可下石碇接北宜全段穿越。
