- It’s recommended to start here for your first race
Challenge Category
- Distance falls between the citizen and elite categories
- Competitive, but not overly intense
Elite Category / Category A

Race Day Preparation
The Day Before the Race
- Check all components of your bike
- Prepare your race clothing and gear
- Go to bed early (even though you might not sleep well)
- Carbohydrate loading (eat more rice, noodles)
Race Morning
- 3 hours before the race: Eat breakfast (rice, toast, bananas)
- 1 hour before the race: Arrive at the venue, pick up your race number
- 30 minutes before the race: Warm up for 15-20 minutes
- 10 minutes before the race: Last bathroom break, drink some water
Race Etiquette
- Don’t brake suddenly or swerve: Riders behind you might crash into you
- Use hand signals: Point out potholes, stops, etc.
- Don’t litter: Keep your empty gel wrappers with you
- Respect other participants: Regardless of their speed
- Thank the volunteers and staff
Advice for First-Time Racers
- Choose the right race: Start with a short-distance citizen category event
- Set a realistic goal: Aim for “finishing smoothly” the first time
- Don’t buy new gear for the race: Wear clothes you’re familiar with and use equipment you know
- Bring a friend: Having company will boost your confidence
- Enjoy the process: Racing is a chance to test your training and a great way to meet fellow cyclists
