Time Trial Strategy: A Duel Against the Clock

The Tour usually includes 1-2 individual time trial (ITT) stages, totaling 40-60 kilometers, with significant impact on the general classification.

Pacing Strategy

Professional riders adopt a “negative split” pacing strategy in time trials, riding slightly below threshold power in the first half and gradually accelerating in the second half:

  • First 1/3: 95-98% of FTP, establishing a steady rhythm
