Theory
This tool splits GPX into fixed-distance segments and solves the speed that target power can produce for each grade. Segment speed estimates come from the Martin et al. (1998) validated road cycling power balance equation (the same model used by the CdA estimator and climb calculator); real races are also affected by corners, road surface, group drafting, braking and aid stations. The GPX file is parsed entirely in the browser and never uploaded to a server.
