Introduction to Formosa 900

Formosa 900 is an ultra-distance cycling endurance race that requires completing a 900 km loop around Taiwan within 90 hours. It attracts over 1,000 participants from more than 50 countries each year.

Race History

The inaugural edition was held in 2015, with just over 300 participants and a completion rate as high as 85%. In 2021, it received UCC recognition and became part of the international ultra-cycling challenge series.

Preparation

Training Plan (3-6 months)

  • Weekend long rides: 100-150 km
  • One monthly night ride for adaptation
  • 24-30 hour continuous riding simulation

Nutrition Strategy

Replenish with sports drinks every 30-45 minutes, and stop at aid stations for 15-20 minutes to refuel with hot meals.
